Macy’s employee at Gardens Mall said he stole money to pay for college

p dir=”ltr”>An employee of Macy’s at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly stole more than $4,000 from the store, according to an arrest report.

p dir=”ltr”>D’Khari Dione Lyons, of Riviera Beach, is facing a charge of grand theft between $300 and $5,000 and fraud. Lyons is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $6,000 bail.

p dir=”ltr”>Lyons, 20, told Palm Beach Gardens police he stole the money to pay for college, the report said.

p dir=”ltr”>Police responded to the Macy’s after Lyons was allegedly seen on surveillance video ringing up a cash transaction, returning the purchase, then putting the money in his pocket.

p dir=”ltr”>A review of the store’s surveillance video revealed that Lyons had allegedly begun stealing money in November. The total amount of cash thefts and fraudulent returns came to $4,376.28.
